Windfall
Center for the Arts Green at Wesleyan University
Windfall is a moving installation. The vanes alternate between two states: contracted and extended. On the first day they are arranged in a triangular grid. At the will of wind currents, the muslin-coated steel frames rotate and eventually collapse, extending screens of cotton string. Every morning, each vane is remounted and moved to its next location, which is determined by the direction of its previous collapse. In each cycle the grid transforms and new spaces emerge as the structures migrate across the site.
